A useful way through
- Write the exact phone and charger model numbers. Read the phone maker’s supported wireless-charging information and the charger’s requirements. A magnetic attachment, similar product name or attractive pad does not establish the supported charging mode for that combination.
- Check any claimed Qi certification against the Wireless Power Consortium’s product database. Match the actual brand and model, not just a logo in a marketplace image. WPC provides a registered product ID; a search result for a neighbouring model is not the same record.
- Identify the required power adapter, cable and permitted case arrangement from the manufacturers’ instructions. Note what is included in the price. Keep the charger’s advertised maximum separate from the phone’s supported rate and the rate of the complete configuration.
- After delivery, follow the setup and safety instructions and check ordinary placement and reconnect behaviour. Record the configuration and what you actually observe. A charging icon shows that charging has begun; it does not measure sustained power, temperature or the time to a full battery.

Put it into practice
In a fictional comparison, pad A includes its required adapter while pad B requires a separately specified adapter. The buyer records both complete prices and asks whether the actual phone and case are supported. A higher wattage printed on B’s listing is not used as proof that the phone will charge faster. The unresolved compatibility row stays open.

Use the actual manufacturer’s operating and safety instructions. No charger or battery has been tested or endorsed by MichaelT.

A useful supplier question
“For phone [model], case [model] and charger [model], which charging mode is supported, and which power supply and cable are required? Please identify the relevant instructions.” This produces a more useful answer than asking whether a pad works with every phone.
Keep a certification claim narrow
A matching database record establishes the certification record for that product. It does not show that MichaelT tested it or that every accessory combination achieves the advertised maximum. If a model cannot be found, ask the manufacturer for clarification rather than labelling a different product as certified.
