State the intended use
Record the activities, clothing and display preferences that matter to you. Neither prestige nor price decides comfort. A specification supports a question but does not settle how a person experiences wearing an object.
Separate the measurements
Copy diameter, thickness, lug-to-lug length and strap information for the exact model. Check whether a stated measure includes a protruding part. A single case-diameter number does not describe the complete footprint.
Make an honest paper comparison
Draw an outline from documented dimensions if useful, clearly labelled as two-dimensional. It cannot reproduce weight, strap behaviour or readability. Do not treat the mock-up as a real try-on or product test.
Ask what remains unknown
Request a suitable try-on and actual-item condition information where available. Leave authentication and servicing questions with appropriate evidence or qualified help. A convincing drawing or high price cannot establish provenance.
Read the diagram as text
The drawing separates diameter, thickness and lug-to-lug questions without predicting wrist comfort.

A worked example
Two fictional listings both state a 40 mm diameter, but give different thickness and lug-to-lug length. The record preserves three measurements rather than declaring equal fit. A paper outline helps prepare a try-on question. MichaelT has not worn or assessed either fictional product.
Illustrative example, not a reported purchase, client project or product test.

Keep the distinction clear
The earlier promotion equated luxury with status and value. This worksheet instead makes the size vocabulary understandable. For used or collectable objects, keep dimension comparison distinct from provenance, condition, servicing and valuation. An absent measurement is a question, not evidence for a public accusation against a seller.
Where this guide stops
Not authentication, servicing, water-resistance testing, valuation or investment advice.
