Start with the specified work
Identify the job, drawing revision, intended material and the professional document requirements for that actual project. A general titanium-welding article or a claim that a pipe can be joined without welding cannot supply those requirements. Have the appropriate competent professional define the applicable documents and criteria. This guide does not choose a joining method, material, load or construction detail.
Separate the procedure and its evidence
TWI explains the relationship between a welding procedure specification and the record supporting procedure qualification. A WPS describes a specified procedure; supporting qualification evidence answers a different question. Retain the actual document identifiers, revisions and scope rather than assuming any file headed welding certificate covers the job. Terminology and requirements must be checked against the actual applicable standard and project.
Keep people and completed work separate
A person’s qualification is not the same document as a procedure qualification. Likewise, a procedure or personnel record does not establish that the completed component passed the required inspection. Ask the responsible professional to connect the applicable records to the job and identify what remains missing. Do not infer unlimited scope, current validity or acceptance from a familiar company logo.
Build an index rather than approving the work
Use neutral references for the drawing, procedure, supporting record, personnel evidence and inspection report. Record who is responsible for reviewing applicability and acceptance. A missing item stays open. This worksheet is a communication index; it does not certify a weld, qualify a person or provide settings, filler selection, shielding, threading or pipe-joining instructions.
Read the drawing as text
Procedure specification, procedure qualification, personnel qualification and inspection of completed work are different evidence. Their relationship needs competent project-specific review.
Work through an example
A fictional job J uses drawing D revision 2. The folder includes WPS W and supporting record Q, but no matching personnel evidence or completed inspection report has been identified. The coordinator lists those gaps for the competent reviewer instead of declaring J certified. No actual component, standard, qualification or weld is assessed.
Illustrative example; figures, people and organisations in the worked record are fictional.

Keep your own record
Use the result within its scope
Use competent review and the actual project requirements. An organised folder does not establish compliance, unlimited qualification or structural suitability, and it cannot authorise fabrication or operation.
