Identify the installed model
Find the product label through the maker’s normal accessible identification method; do not dismantle the appliance. Keep the full model code, manual revision and any installer record. A white kitchen photograph or matching width does not identify the motor, filter or operating arrangement. Ask the manufacturer or appropriate competent installer when the label or configuration is uncertain.
Record the actual air route
Read how that model is configured: ducted extraction and recirculation are different arrangements. Keep the installed arrangement distinct from modes the product might support with additional components. Do not infer a connected external duct from the shape of the canopy. This is a document check, not an instruction to open ductwork, alter ventilation, cut cabinets or change electrical connections.
Match the filter to its job
Use the maker’s parts reference for each filter and its purpose. Grease filtration and odour filtration are not interchangeable labels. Record whether a part is included, optional, washable or replaceable only when the exact instructions say so. A charcoal accessory listed for one Ciarra model does not establish compatibility with another. Do not transfer a cleaning method or replacement interval between products.
Set a documented maintenance question
Keep the manufacturer’s care instructions, the actual part reference and a date for checking the record together. If the household cannot confirm a part or installed mode, ask before purchasing. Record what the professional or manufacturer confirms, with the source date. A clean-looking exterior does not establish internal condition, airflow performance or the adequacy of a property’s ventilation.
Read the drawing as text
The same product family can have different installed arrangements. Confirm the route and the corresponding filter instructions.
Work through an example
A fictional hood H supports two configurations, but the old receipt does not say which is installed. The owner records mode unknown and asks for confirmation. A proposed replacement filter F is retained as unconfirmed until the exact parts list matches it. No claim is made about measured extraction, reduced humidity or suitability for the kitchen.
