Effective Therapy – Choosing The Right Psychotherapist For You

People think of going to therapy as going to a car mechanic. They expect the therapist will diagnose the problem and fix it, just like the mechanic does with the brake pads or adjusts the carburetor. They expect that something will happen to them. This is not true. Expect the other person not to know all the answers. Therapists are not experts. You already know the answers. These answers are already inside of you.

As you explore your thoughts, emotions, and behavior, the physical therapist near you will help you find those answers. Therapy is education to me. Therapy can help you improve your communication skills, reduce stress, and increase your benefits. Do not be afraid to shop around for the right match between you, your therapist, and yourself.
